Our first year!
Inaugural Race
The first schooner race on San Francisco Bay in a century was initiated by SFYC Commodore John Swain. Terry Klaus, owner of the schooner Brigadoon, received the "Spirit of the Race" award—a 15-year-old bottle of Haitian rum.
On a breezy Saturday in the Central Bay, a rare fleet of classic schooners danced in a graceful loop, marking the inaugural Great San Francisco Schooner Race. Though the pursuit-style race saw boats finishing far apart, the spectacle of these vintage beauties under full sail was a sight to behold, with Yankee and Santana leading their respective classes.
